The Beaver Empty The Beaver

This film is billed as a "dark comedy"...I usually enjoy those (think...Fargo)...but this one had no comedy. It is a dark ride. Mel Gibson plays a man who is so deep in depression, he just can't crawl out...then after a failed suicide attempt, he finds a Beaver hand-puppet. He begins talking to his wife, kids and co-workers again. Only you find out it's not therapy...he has delved deeper into Schizophrenia and the Beaver actually has a different personality. He even argues with the Beaver.

SPOILER ALERT: you've been warned...

he eventually...

cuts off....

his Beaver encased hand.

BAD BAD BAD MOVIE.
